The Commission may obtain information in a number of different ways including public hearings, in-camera (closed) hearings and investigations conducted by the Commission's investigators appointed under the Inquiries Act 2014.
While the Commission prefers to hold hearings in public, there will be times where it will be necessary to conduct closed hearings to protect the safety of certain witnesses and affected persons.
The first round of public hearings, which focused on Victoria Police dealings with Nicola Gobbo between 1993 and 2000, took place between 27 March and 2 April 2019.
Please see the table below for information including transcripts, statements and exhibits.
Before information can be made public, it must be carefully reviewed (and redacted where appropriate) by the Commission in consultation with Victoria Police. This may cause some delays in publishing.
Public hearings take place at the Fair Work Commission, Court Room 1, level 6, 11 Exhibition Street, Melbourne, unless otherwise indicated. Usual hearing hours are from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Those wishing to attend should note that the hearings may be streamed live through this website and images of people in the public gallery could be captured.
Please check this website regularly for information about when the next set of hearings will be taking place.
